The year 2020 was challenging for the Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pacífico. Due to COVID-19 its facilities were closed for more than six months and the programs had to be virtual. The financial difficulties confronted at this time and the need to address the health crisis led to a significant reduction in the contributions of the public and private sectors, but nevertheless, the Tecnocentro was able to offer limited art, dance, music and technology-related programs.
In December, Somos Pacífico launched the campaign “Life Stories and a Christmas Tree for Eastern Cali” and the friends of the Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pacífico responded with the usual enthusiasm and solidarity, donating more than 65 million pesos (almost US$20,000) to the cause. The foundation is grateful for their generous support, which enabled thousands of children from eastern Cali to receive high-quality artistic training in safe surroundings.
