For two years, in competition with other Colombian captials, the Alvaralice Foundation obtained from several international organizations the resources to be able to implement in Cali the Cure Violence program of the University of Illinois, Chicago – School of Public Health. At the beginning of 2017 the proposal that will be implemented for the first time in Colombia was approved.
The strategy of Cure Violence (http://cureviolence.org/) has been scientifically proven in several countries of the world (Honduras, Mexico, United States and Canada, among others) and treats violence as an epidemic, seeking to reduce shootings and murders in the communities.
The Cure Violence team visited Cali from November 29th to December 1st, visiting the designated neighborhoods to begin the project’s activities in its first planning phase.
