Innovative initiatives received recognition for their leadership and high-impact community work in Cali and Yumbo

On May 24 at the Comfandi Cultural Center, 43 social initiatives were recognized in the Special Edition of the Civic Award for a Better City. There were 20 finalists from Cali and 11 from Yumbo, who received seed capital to strengthen their community processes. This version highlights social inclusion, community development, and artistic and cultural projects that contribute to the construction of a better city.

For two months, the finalist initiatives participated in a training process which gave them tools that enabled their long-term sustainability and growth. In addition, the initiatives were given greater visibility through interviews conducted by the media.

This edition of the Civic Award involved the participation of a broad group of partners and allies. The coordination was carried out by the Alvaralice Foundation in Cali and Smurfit Kappa Colombia in Yumbo; the partners of the award in Cali are the Carvajal, Fanalca and WWB Colombia Foundations, the Freinet School and the Education and Research Center for Urban and Rural Community Development (CEDECUR). The national partners are the Bolivar Davivienda, Corona, Plan Internacional and Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios Foundations. FEDY and Yumbo Cómo Vamos also supported the project, as well as media outlets such as Noticiero 90 Minutos, Diario El País and Emisora Yumbo Estéreo FM 107.0.
