Elena Garcés, the founder of the first stage of Colomb!anas, the transmedia initiative documenting the very different life-experiences of women in Colombia, was the first woman to sit in front of the camera to reveal details of her personal life. Elena was already married and had four children when she went to study at the American University in Washington. Her family inspired her to document her life and the personal experiences of women from various regions of Colombia who have managed to overcome their difficulties.
