The training sessions of the institutional strengthening process of the civic award “Por una Ciudad Mejor” began last Saturday, January 22nd. This phase of the award will consist of eight meetings in which the 30 finalist initiatives will receive tools that will contribute to strengthen the work they are carrying out for the welfare of their communities.
The first session, called “Connections Accelerator”, was held at the Women’s World Bank (WWB) Colombia Foundation’s headquarters and was led by CEDECUR and the Fanalca Foundation. During this event, the various initiatives had the opportunity to become acquainted with each other, exchange work experiences and map out the communities and townships where they are having an impact in the city.
The second session, held the following week, was led by Fundación WWB Colombia with the workshop “Ofelia No Está Sola” (Ofelia Is Not Alone), a methodology that seeks to generate reflections on gender-based violence through a film workshop.
In the following weeks, the initiatives will continue along the path of institutional strengthening, with workshops on project management, legal advice, budget control, successful money management and digital strategies. Some of them will be conducted virtually and others in person.
After this process, the initiatives will receive visits from the team of jurors, who will evaluate them and issue their ratings in order to choose the 20 winners that will receive the seed capital in kind of $10 million COP (2,650 USD). In addition, a video will be made of each of the finalist initiatives, which will showcase their work.
