Through workshops for children and adolescents in the El Poblado I neighborhood, the Casa Naranja Corporation helps them find acting opportunities leading many of its beneficiaries to become professionals in this art. The initiative “Gestos por la vida” (Gestures for Life) was born from the need to integrate the community through theater. Besides teaching, they aim to break the paradigm that children and young people cannot fulfill their dreams because they live in vulnerable surroundings.
Besides, changing social realities through theater, circus and dance, Casa Naranja has become a tourist center since it has the only theater in the area. Therefore, it has become a necessary entertainment alternative for a sector that has few spaces for culture.
This is how the work of the Casa Naranja Corporation over the last 20 years has contributed to mitigating the barriers of inequality and invisibility present in Cali’s Commune 13.
