The global launch of the Somos Pac\u00edfico Friends Club will take place this July 16<sup>th<\/sup> an 17<sup>th<\/sup> at LaGuardia Community College, in Queens, New York, during the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Services Festival and commemoration of Colombia\u00b4s Independence Day. The Alvaralice Foundation and Somos Pac\u00edfico will part participate in the event as special guests of Mar\u00eda Isabel Nieto, Consul General of Colombia in New York.<\/p>\n<p>The Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pac\u00edfico is located in Potrero Grande, a low-income neighborhood with one of the highest violent crime rates in Cali, Colombia. mos inhabitants are internal refugees forced from their rural homes as a result of colombia\u00b4s ongoing conflict.\u00a0 Economic opportunities in Potrero Grande are extremely limited, leading to high incidences of crime and violence. In a effort to solve this problem, the Alvaralice Foundation joined forces with the private and public sectors to create the Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pac\u00edfico an organization tat aims to prevent violence an promote conflict resolution through a new and innovative training model combinig technology, the arts and income generation.<\/p>\n<p>The Somos Pac\u00edfico Friends Club was created as an initiative to support the programs offered by the Somos Pac\u00edfico Cultural Center which to date has benefitted more than 2500 people. The contributions received from the Somos Pac\u00edfico Friends Club have helped both children and teens expand their knowledge in the arts, technology and income generation.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone can become a member of the Somos Pac\u00edfico Friends Club. Any donation, no matter how small can make a huge difference in the lives of these children: a monthly donation of just USD $20 can fianc\u00e9 a child for up to one year in our fine arts program. Big changes start with small acts, join today! Together we can achieve more!<\/p>\n<p>The Alvaralice Foundation and Somos Pac\u00edfico at the services Festival in Queens, NY.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the Services Festival is to celebrate Colombian food, culture and artistic heritage as well as strengthen ties with the local Colombian community in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The Consulate General of Colombia in New York organizes the festival. Twenty government institutions will attend, as well as the Alvaralice Foundation, represented by Mar\u00eda Eugenia Garc\u00e9s, its President, and Whitney Cox, its Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p>The Alvaralice Foundation will have an open stand both days (July 16<sup>th<\/sup> and 17<sup>th<\/sup>), between 10 AM and 6 PM, where anyone can obtain more information about the foundation and the project Somos Pac\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p>Also attending will be our very special guests: Carolina Valencia and Miguel Garc\u00eda, a salsa duo from the Somos Pac\u00edfico Talent Agency and George Rios and Nicol Ramirez the famous salsa choke dancers from the hit song \u201cRas Tas Tas\u201d from the 2014 Brazil World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Please share with your friends and we hope to see you there![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Santiago de Cali, July 7th, 2016.
