[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On March 15th, the book “Songs of my People: Building History Together” was launched at the Departmental Library with the aim of contributing to the\u00a0 preservation of the oral tradition\u00a0 and the history \u00a0of populations eradicated \u00a0by Colombian violence.<\/p>\n

This project, “Lazos de Reconciliaci\u00f3n<\/a>” (Reconciliation Links), gathered 60 personal stories, based on the narratives of the elderly in the neighborhood of Potrero Grande in Cali. The project was also executed in the Olaya Herrera neighborhood in Cartagena and in the municipality of San Carlos in Antioquia, with the participation of children, youths \u00a0and \u00a0the elderly.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pac\u00edfico<\/a> counted with the highest participation of the elderly (60) in the three intervention sites throughout the project. They participated in recreational activities such as painting, group discussions, declamation, music and dance. This allowed them to share their life experiences which culminated in the book, the end-goal of this project.<\/p>\n

This project was executed by the Tecnocentro Cultural Somos Pac\u00edfico<\/a> Grande in the District of Aguablanca with the sponsorship of theSaldarriaga Concha Foundation<\/a> and funding from the US NGO ACDI\/VOCA<\/a>, through its Partnerships for Reconciliation Program (PAR).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
