[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Members of the team of our project \u201cAbriendo Caminos\u201d<\/a> were invited to travel to Honduras to share with local violence-reduction programs how they adapted the Cure Violence model to reduce violence among young people in two neighborhoods in Cali. The “Abriendo Caminos”<\/a> program resulted from the collaboration of the Alvaralice and the Cure Violence Global teams in order to adapt Cure Violence’s violence reduction model to the Cali context. This was made possible by a generous grant from the Inter American Bank (IADB). At present, team members have been invited to share their experiences with similar initiatives in Central America building on the project\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

On March 24th, the coordinator and two project supervisors traveled to the city of San Pedro Sula, where they shared the lessons learned from the experience of the Cali project with the members of the Honduran team. \u201cAbriendo Caminos\u201d<\/a> has been built on the Cure Violence model, placing a strong emphasis on community liaison workers who help high-risk youth to access services and opportunities. In addition, the Cali team was able to learn from the \u201cCure Violence\u201d<\/a> initiatives in Honduras how they have implemented the model focusing on interrupting gender-based violence, work that is being developed by Cure Violence Global and Unicef Honduras.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
