The Tecnocentro Cultural Center “Somos Pacífico” (We are Peaceful/from the Pacific Ocean Area), celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gala event at the Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater. The artistic presentation featured the participation of 160 artists in training who were in charge of the evening’s events along with the Desepaz Music School, the Son 21 Orchestra and Junior Zamora. In addition, Goyo, lead singer of the ChoQuibTown group, made a presentation, highlighting that the beneficiaries of the Tecnocentro should always pursue their dreams. Also present at the gala were several personalities who contributed to the initial processes of Somos Pacífico.
This cultural center, the largest in eastern Cali, started with Sister Alba Stella Barreto, who through her initiative and management and with the support of the Alvaralice Foundation and Comfandi, managed to gather the necessary resources and partners to make the project a reality.
In its first decade, 4,736 people have benefited directly and 113,476 indirectly in areas such as theater, dance, music, robotics, video editing, photography, programming and plastic arts, through an innovative model oriented towards technology, employability and entrepreneurship, serving as ground zero for many life projects.
The operation and results of the space have been possible thanks to the cooperation of public and private organizations that have contributed to the development of the Tecnocentro with the objective of building peace through art and culture.
