On May 28th, the one-time performance in Cali of the Colombian adaptation of the American play ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ was held at the Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater.
The play was produced by the Teatro Colón and Corporación Omenka in Bogotá, whereas the performance in Cali which was attended by more than 800 people, was made possible by the Partnership for Reconciliation Program (PAR), USAID, ACDI/VOCA, Alvaralice Foundation, Enrique Buenaventura Municipal Theater and the Chamber of Commerce of Cali. .
Written by Lorraine Hansberry, ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ is considered one of the key plays of the 20th century and has been hugely successful in Broadway and London’s West End. The Colombian adaptation was directed by Juan Sebastián Aragón and starred Bárbara Perea, Ramsés Ramos, Indhira Serrano, Nina Caicedo and Álvaro Bayona.
