The institutional strengthening stage of the 13 semifinalist grassroots organizations participating in the 10th Civic Award Program took place between August 31st and October 12th. This phase, which lasted a month and a half , was a pre-requisite to be able to participate, and included a series of workshops to help them boost their efforts in the areas of performance, innovation and sustainability. Between October 1st and October 3rd the jurors (Juliana Ruiz, Roberto Herrera, Ana Lucia Burckhardt, Jefferson Tenorio and Odilia Mayorga) visited the semifinalist organizations to observe first-hand their work.

This year, the Cali 2019 Civic Award Program accepted 103 applications from local grassroots organizations of which 13 were preselected as the finalists that received institutional strengthening support and personal visits from the awards committee.

The work of these 13 organizations focuses on issues such as reconciliation, children, the environment, inclusion and the arts. The three prizes to be awarded, totaling 25 million pesos, will be received by the winners as seed capital on Thursday, November 28th, the day of the awards ceremony.

Currently the jurors are going through the difficult process of deciding who will be the awardess, given that all the initiatives have met most of the requirements and they all deserve recognition for their contribution to a better Cali.
