During the week of May 18th to the 22nd, the Afro-Colombian Week was commemorated through a number of virtual activities, with the foundation highlighting significant contributions from the Afro-Colombian population to our city. Additionally, the foundation focused on the work of different social, public, and private sectors that have transformed the lives of this community, overcoming barriers of social exclusion and providing opportunities for empowerment, resilience, and action.

One of the activities that stood out was the panel carried out in partnership with local newscast 90 Minutos, called “Alternatives for Social Inclusion for the Afro-Colombian Population in Cali.” The panel included the participation of Dr. Aurora Vergara Figueroa, Director of the Center for Afro-diasporic Studies CEAF from ICESI University, Dr. José Darwin Lenis, Secretary of Culture of Cali, and Damper Vergara, artist and member of the band Alto Volumen, from Somos Pacífico agency.
