The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the most vulnerable communities in Colombia. Even though the economy has been recovering in the past few months, cities in Colombia continue to enforce containment measures as the country is in the middle of a third wave of Covid-19.
Responding to the current situation, the Alvaralice and EMpower Foundations joined forces to provide support with food parcels to participants from our different programs working in vulnerable communities.
Personal protection equipment such as disposable face masks were also distributed, together with advice on self-protection measures that should continue to be observed. The Alvaralice Foundation was able to provide face masks thanks to the support of the regional movement Socios por el Valle. This organization is made up of twenty-one groups and works in coordination with the government of the Valle del Cauca and the mayor’s office of Cali.
